I couldn't let another day go by without sharing this hand-lettered page filled with notes I took during our group calls talking about all of the amazing ways our Fearless ladies are giving themselves permission day after day! Giving yourself permission to do the things that you've been telling yourself you can't (sometimes for a long long time) takes a whole lot of courage, and I am SO proud of the way these women are SHOWING up for themselves in Fearless Art day after day! After a full week away with the @creativefounders After a full week away with the @creativefounders alumni retreat in Destin, Florida last week - I'm coming home refreshed and re-focused.... but most importantly I'm coming home with a whole lot of love for ME. . I had the unique opportunity during this week away to spend a lot of time just making space for my own self - I slept alone, I swam alone, I ate alone from time to time, I laughed alone, and YES I cried alone too. . As a serial extrovert and someone who has historically been afraid of being alone with my own thoughts - I'm so proud to share that this was the look on my face after a week of taking a LOT of time just for me. . As I floated with the waves, as I created space to sit, to think, to journal, and to dream - I discovered something that has been budding in me for a long long time over here: a deep, unabashed love for ME. . There was a time that I would have felt worried that this sounds too proud, that I'm not actually ALLOWED to love being with my own self so dang much.... "who do you think you are!?" might have echoed in my head... . ...but today it is different... . Today I am deeply proud of the girl in this photo. I'm humbled by her journey. I enjoy that she lives out loud and dives in headfirst, and FEELS all of the things. I came home from my Florida adventures just in tim I came home from my Florida adventures just in time for our two Fearless Art group calls this week. . Right now we are talking all about blooming: choosing a creative practice to focus on, lean into, and build our skills!! . As we talked I lettered some of the things that these brave ladies are focusing their attention on - and I am so excited watching them bloom as they lean into these skills! . Building skill is all about the practice, and what a gift it is that the practice of practicing always cultivates our skills and creates increasingly beautiful results. 💗💗💗 . Friends, here is the heart behind my newest collec Friends, here is the heart behind my newest collection in the @illustratedfaith Print and Pray shop: “Hope in Dry Places.”: Caring for our mental health is something that I hold dear to my heart. As a part of our community, I hear your stories... and as a survivor of suicidal depression, I feel the weight of it all - right by your side. Friend, I feel it deep in my soul - and because of that, this collection is for you. . When times are hard, it can feel so easy to feel the pressure to rush through the pain. We can be in a hurry: a rush to feel better, a rush to "solve" our problems, a rush to find the answers, a rush to just get "back to normal"... but the thing about surviving hurt and hard times is that sometimes it just takes TIME. . I created hope in dry places as a reminder to us all - that even when your soul is dry and weary and you can feel the cracks of sadness start to form - even when things feel lonely and your heart is tired - even when you are waiting, waiting, waiting for the rain.... . Friend, there is hope. . I love the visual of succulents for this reminder: those hearty little pokey plants, that know how to wait out dry times. . Friend: My sweet little succulent, you are stronger than you know. . Even if you are thirsty, and tired, and weary - you, my friend are not alone... wait out this season, rest in the reassurance that you have everything you need. Stored deep inside you are courage and strength and resilience that will surprise even you... . Wait for the rain, and while you wait, let it be dry and hard and let yourself slow your urgent pace. Wait for it, have hope in your driest of places, because it is coming - a beautiful soul-quenching, life-saving, rain. .
