One thing I’ve known, stepping into this new yea One thing I’ve known, stepping into this new year, is that I needed some processing time before I was ready to release 2022. This year was intense, it was hard, it was scary… and I definitely am not the same as I was at the start of 2022. Every year, I cherish this process. I collect my wins, I throw myself a journal party to celebrate all of the things I’m proud of… all of the things I’ve DONE and accomplished… …but at the end of this year it looks and feels different. This year wasn’t a year of doing… it was a year of being: 💗Being patient with myself 💗Being brave enough to accept the help I need 💗Being still 💗Being at peace (when I can, with what I have to give) 💗Being nowhere but right here In all of the madness of this year, there’s something beautiful in this… a different kind of win. Let out: To release or discharge something un Let out: To release or discharge something under pressure | To free a person or animal from a place of confinement or captivity | To release or utter something audibly | To reveal something Yesterday I shared something publicly that was pretty hard. It was hard to put words to the feelings I was having. It was hard to admit to the world (to anyone really) that that is what was going on in my head and heart. It was hard to allow myself to take up that emotional space: to say “I’m struggling,” to say “this hurts,” to ask people to be with me even in the yuck. Yesterday I stared the day feeling heavy and broken and so very sad - but I did the thing that I have learned to do when things feel unbearably hard: I let it out. Now for everyone that might not look like a public confession that lands on the feed of thousands of friends. It might look like a quiet conversation over coffee with your favorite friend. It might look a text, or phone call, or a little sticky note left on a mirror or a door that says “can we talk?” It might look like sitting yourself on your therapists couch - tissues in hand... Whatever it looks like, friend, let it out. Yesterday was hard and achey, but truthfully as soon as I put my feelings to audible/readable honest words I felt the relief. There was a release, a freedom, a comfort - just because I let the truth be exactly what it was. Yesterday was hard but today was easier, because I let it out in my own kind of way. The world is so full of heartbreak and pain. It can feel hopeless and lonely and sad... but may we all remember to use our most powerful tool: our voice. Let it out, friend, whatever you are holding. You don’t have to face this alone. And PLEASE if you need more support - ASK FOR IT. Call or text 988. I miss my spark. This year has been a long and co I miss my spark. This year has been a long and complicated one, and I know better thank to judge myself too harshly… but as the year is beginning to wind down, and I’m looking for the beauty in the disaster of my mental health experience in 2022… and truly there has been some beautiful gifts along the way. … but still I as I look back at where I was a year ago (or just under a year ago, this picture is from the beginning of 2022)… I miss this energy. That fiery passion, the drive and the get up and go. I miss it. This has been a year of learning a new way, of making peace with the moment (one moment at at time), this has been a year of learning the practice of going slow… …and I’m grateful and I’m growing and I know I will emerge from this quiet place stronger and steadier and healthier than before… …but today I’m feeling the contrast, I’m witnessing the hollow ache, I’m mourning the loss of months and months and months of standing still. I know there is purpose in all of this, I promise. I’m trusting the process, the future is bringing something beautiful, I know that I know that I know. …but tonight I miss this, I miss the me that’s lit up wholeheartedly with courage and light.
